Dr Silane received his medical degree from Georgetown Medical School in Washington DC. He completed a residency in General Surgery at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in 1976 (known then as the New York Hospital). He completed a fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. In addition, Dr Silane spent one year as a research fellow in a NIH funded lab at the Harvard Medical School.
An attending vascular surgeon at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center for over 30 years, Dr Silane also served as the Chief of Vascular Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center – North Division for over 10 years.
Dr Silane is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of the full range of vascular disorders that affect the arteries and veins including carotid disease, claudication and poor circulation in the legs, aortic aneurysm, venous insufficiency and varicose veins.
