Dr Vouyouka completed medical school at the Capodistrean University of Athens School of Medicine. Following a residency in General Surgery at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury Connecticut, she completed fellowship training in Vascular Surgery at University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics. In addition, she completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Yale University. Dr Vouyouka has under gone additional training in minimally invasive treatments for vascular conditions including carotid stenting and minimally invasive repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms.
Dr Vouyouka was a faculty member in the Department of Surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan for six years prior to joining the Division of Vascular Surgery at New York Presbyterian in 2006.
Dr. Vouyouka has presented research results at several national and international scientific meetings and has co-authored several original manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Vascular Surgery, Journal of Surgical Research and Surgery. Her research interests include the study of factors affecting endothelial and smooth muscle cell function and the incidence of vascular disease in African Americans.
Dr Vouyouka is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society, the Midwestern Vascular Society, and the Western Surgical Society. In addition, she is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
